Synopsis (taken from front flap)
'Long, long years ago and a far, far space away, all kinds of animal were commanded not to kill.' The command came from Fo, whom we know as Buddha, and all the animals oneyed it. Even the lions fed on lilybuds and brought up their cubs on honey, roots and flowers. But the time came when little lion wearied of this monotonous diet, and one dreadful morning when the gazelles were slipping past on their way to the waterhole, the temptation to spring was too much for him. How little lion made amends for his crime and won back the favour of Fo makes a charming story for younger children. Rosemary Harris tells it with elegant wit, and Errol Le Cain's delicious illustrations exactly capture the flavour of the text.
